TripTop (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an AI-powered trip planning service operated by Zhichao (Francis) Zhong, registered under an Australian Business Number (ABN), operating as TripTop. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@triptop.io.
Account information. When you create an account using a third-party sign-in provider (such as Google or Apple), we receive your name, email address, and profile photo.
Trip and travel data. Information you provide when planning trips, including destinations, dates, travel preferences, selected places, itineraries, and checklists.
Chat and AI interactions. Messages you send to our AI assistant and the trip context necessary to generate responses.
Payment information. We do not store your payment card details. Payment processing is handled by our third-party payment processor, which collects and stores payment information in accordance with its own privacy policy. We retain subscription status and transaction records.
Automatically collected information. When you use our service, we automatically collect certain technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, and usage data. We also use error monitoring tools that may capture diagnostic information when errors occur.
Location data. With your permission, we may collect approximate location information to provide location-relevant recommendations. This is optional and not stored beyond the individual request.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
Where applicable (including under the GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases for processing your personal data:
TripTop uses third-party AI providers to power features such as itinerary generation, place recommendations, and the chat assistant. When you use these features, we transmit relevant trip context (such as destinations, dates, and preferences) to our AI providers so they can generate responses.
We do not transmit your name, email address, or payment information to AI providers. We maintain data processing agreements (DPAs) with our AI providers and apply data minimisation principles, sending only the context necessary to fulfil your request.
We use third-party services to help operate and improve TripTop, including providers for authentication, payment processing, AI, mapping, error monitoring, and hosting. These services are bound by their own privacy policies and, where applicable, data processing agreements with us.
Interactive maps across TripTop are rendered by Mapbox. Map tiles, place labels, and routing information include data from the following providers:
We display the Mapbox logo on every map. Full attribution is provided here in accordance with the Mapbox Attribution Guidelines.
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
TripTop is operated from Australia. Your information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than the country in which you reside. Where required under the GDPR, we use standard contractual clauses to safeguard transfers. We also comply with Australian Privacy Principle (APP) 8 regarding cross-border disclosure of personal information.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Trip data is retained until you delete it or your account. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where retention is required for legal, tax, or regulatory purposes.
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information.
EU/UK residents (GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. You also have the right to object to processing, withdraw consent at any time, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, request deletion, opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data), receive equal service and pricing (non-discrimination), and request correction of inaccurate information.
Australian residents (Privacy Act): You have the right to access and correct your personal information. You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

TripTop is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through an in-app notice. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
